Zarif urges attempts to ease trade restriction on Iran

HELSINKI, May 31 (MNA) – Iran’s Javad Zarif has spoken to Iran-Finland Business Forum where he has urged all ‘businessmen and politicians’ to wage attempts to remove restrictions on Iran’s financial transactions.

Foreign Minister Zarif addressed the Forum on Tuesday evening local time in Helsinki where he believed that trade and business delegations would not be brought together by ‘political agenda;’ rather, “it is financial interests and business that connect economic delegations; participation of tradesmen in this forum well indicates that both countries have opportunities to work together; the most important issue here is financial and banking restrictions on Iran which should be eased; our national strength comes not from our weapons and military might, but rather from our people; our security has roots in our native capabilities and national innovations and resistance,” Zarif emphasized. “Our nation has preferred, instead of bare violence, to voice their opinions and have opted for ballot boxes in a peaceful means; I believe in our private sector; we should rely on our university graduates and young cohort in the booming market of geniuses,” he added.

“Iran is a capable country and will definitely tackle restrictions on its banking and financial transactions; our security, economy, technology, and science are indigenous; this however would not mean deprive ourselves of global value chain; together, we will win or we lose together; I am optimistic about the future and will choose a positive version of future accordingly,” he addressed the forum.
